From the flyleaf: Michael Moore is on a mission in his new book: Regime Change. The man who slithered into the White House on tracks greased by his daddy's oil buddies is one of many targets in Mike's blistering follow-up to his smash #1 hit Stupid White Men, the biggest-selling nonfiction book of the year. ... A briliant act of sedition, Dude, Where's My Country? reveals: How to stop terrorism. ("Stop being terrorists!") How to sift through all the whoppers about 9/11 and the Iraq war. ("I have a few questions for you, Mr. Bush-- questions, it seems, you've never been asked...") How to recognize the conservative right for what it is: ("A dying species, thrashing and flailing in its final days.") And, most important, how to effect the kind of change that just may save this country. Fearless, funny, and furious, Michael Moore's new book is the call to arms we've all been waiting for, the kind of book that comes along once every so often that rallies the citizens with humor and insight-- and changes the course of the country. I'm starting a book ring with this book. PM me if you would like to participate. When you receive the book, please make a journal entry to let us know that it has arrived. Read the book as quickly as you can. PM the next person on the list to confirm than he/she still wants the book (and is ready to read it!) and to get the postal address. When you send it off make another journal entry with your comments and a note as to where it is going next. This book will begin its travels at the Sacramento BookCrossing Meetup on 2003-11-11. (That's Nov 11, 2003 for those of you who don't know the ISO date format.) The bookring will remain open, so feel free to PM me while the book is on-the-go. Hey all, ecoboy has five bookrings going for Dude, Where's My Country?, one for Europe, two for US, one for Canada, and one for Hawaii+Australia+New Zealand. As much as I would love to have everybody on my bookring, it may be faster and/or cheaper for you to join one of ecoboy's bookrings: Europe Canada Hawaii, Austrailia, and New Zealand US (1) US (2) or this bookring. Regardless of which bookring you end up on, I look forward to reading all the journal entries on all the rings! jrv

Wow! Michael Moore presents an angry and well–annotated attack on George W. Bush and the way in which a small group of right–wingers have wrecked this country. As a college history professor, I'll confess to being awestruck. The two best sections were chapter 7, in which he explains how the mass investment of ordinary people in stocks in the 1980s led to disaster, and the ending, in which he surveys the attitudes of ordinary people on things like the environment and gay rights. I am going to rewrite my lecture outline on the 1980s and use this book as a source. Damn, the man knows his stuff. He knows conservatism too: he explains that it's essentially based on fear. Jim (jrv) was a wonderful friend to me to lend this to me and he doesn't even really know me. Thanks, man.

Wow, Michael Moore has a lot of courage! he sure opened my eyes to things. What I can't believe is how many people living where I am (Santa Fe, New Mexico) have read this book. I brought this book up (cautiously of course) to different people who I thought might be interested to find out that they got to it before me! Wow...I am still speechless... Thanks so much for sharing this book with me!
