This was a present from my wife, who knows how much I like G&S comic opera. (Yes, I'm well-loved!) I haven't read all 14 of the librettos yet, so I guess this book (14 books?) is still being read.

Typically, my family will read the libretto before we go see a G&S operetta. It makes it much more enjoyable for my kids, since they often don't have the background to get many of the jokes without having them explained. We take care of the explanations at home a few days or weeks before we see the show, and the kids get to laugh along with the rest of us.
