Bought and read this in my teens when I was an exchange student in the US, but I always had a feeling that my host family would not think it suitable for me!

12/5/13 Sorry it's taken me so long to get to this book. I started this book the day before returning from holiday and I whizzed through to start with, maybe the boredom of a 12 hour flight helped!! Once I got back home I slowed up, partly from being distracted in designing my photo book as a memento of our lovely holiday.
Anyway back to the book, on the whole I enjoyed it, I liked the fact you got to read what Garp was writing about within the story and it made wonder if other writers use things that happen in their own lives to come up with novels, which is fine for most books but a bit disturbing for horror writers!! Some of the scenarios seemed a little far fetched but then when you see the news sometimes...

This came at a time when I really needed a bit of escapism, so thanks for the RABCK. I enjoyed the first part of the book most, when Garp was a child. I liked the story within a story format, but I did feel that it was a way of getting a couple of not-so-good short story published!
