The Wonder Spot

I liked this book, but didn't love it. I got bored a few times and thought of not finishing it, but each time I forced myself to read on, and was glad I did.
People here have complained it is dull or pointless. I wouldnt say it was either exactly - it is a quite long (though it is only normal size and pages, the print is rather small), story of a young woman's life over 20 years, focusing on her relationships and careers. Like most of us, there are interesting parts, and not so. I think what is putting people off, myself included to a small degree, is that it does take a long time to go not very far, but if you can stick it out, the writing is beautiful and takes time to really flesh out this unconfident and unsure character.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Into Mozette's book baggie - I hope someone enjoys this!
Sounds like a good read - from what I read on the back. I'll have to have a look into it.
This book has traveled across the country to me; and I tried to read it, however it's really not my style. So, into this bag to travel again... happy travels little book!
This book arrived today from the very generous Mozette - thank you!
I am fairly sure I read The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing by the same author, and thought it was alright, so I look forward to reading this book. Thanks again, Mozette!

I was looking for something light-hearted to read after reading two fairly serious books in a row, and this was a good choice. I really enjoyed the ‘slices’ of Sophie’s life and her wit (I particularly liked the description of a bad Chinese meal looking like “a diorama of a swamp”).
Will release this very soon – thanks, Mozette, for sending it to me!
Sent as a very belated birthday RABCK - hope you enjoy this! :)
Thank you ukcanaus! Thank you for the birthday package of surprises on my doorstep early this morning! What a treat! You are very, very naughty but I really appreciate this gift. You are so thoughtful. I look forward to reading this ... (I haven't read any Melissa Bank books so this will be good!!) xx
