1939, Nazi Germany. The country is holding it´s breath. Death has never been busier. Liesel, a nine year old girl, is living with a foster family on Himmel Street. Her parents have been taken away to a concentration camp. Liesel steals books. This is her story and the story of inhabitants of her street when the bombs begin to fall.
I have got two copies of this book so I thought I´d sign one of the up here:) Have not yet read the other copy but hopefully I will soon.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
A birthday surprise for Bloedengel through the birthday group:) Hope you will have a great day and get lots of surprises:)
Now I am really curious to see if you already read that copy of yours , since december 2010.
I've heard of this book, of course, but I haven't read it yet.
I find myself too often giving in to my lazyness, reading chiclit, romance and other nonsense, but I do have some brains, actually, and whenever I read a more 'rewarding' book , it stays with me and is a more deep mental 'gain' for a longer period.
It looks like something I'll torougly enjoy reading.
And of course I am very glad you gave me a present. I love presents. As much as I love books.
So when the present is a book, I'm in birthdayheaven. As you can see, my mount to be read is challenging the Everest, but I do hope to get around soon !

Wonderful. I'd have never bought this myself as I felt this book was very 'hyped' and usually these don't work for me, but WHAT A BOOK !
I should have read it sooner. The language. The story...
With me to meeting Moriquen tomorrow.

With me to meeting Moriquen tomorrow.
Thanks for the book and nice meeting you and the kids again, Bloedengel!
Finished reading this yesterday and although I approached it with a little bit of trepidation (being a hyped book, as Bloedengel pointed out), but I did enjoy it very much. I started off just liking it, but the last few chapters won me over completely. I will not quickly forget Liesel Memminger or the narrator of her strory and his problems with the complexity of humanity! Thanks for sharing it with me. I don't know where this book will go next, but it won't remain on my shelves for very long, I think. ;)
