From the publisher:
Aerial combat brings a thrilling new dimension to the Napoleonic Wars as valiant warriors rise to Britain’s defense by taking to the skies . . . not aboard aircraft but atop the mighty backs of fighting dragons. When HMS Reliant captures a French frigate and seizes its precious cargo, an unhatched dragon egg, fate sweeps Capt. Will Laurence from his seafaring life into an uncertain future–and an unexpected kinship with a most extraordinary creature. Thrust into the rarified world of the Aerial Corps as master of the dragon Temeraire, he will face a crash course in the daring tactics of airborne battle. For as France’s own dragon-borne forces rally to breach British soil in Bonaparte’s boldest gambit, Laurence and Temeraire must soar into their own baptism of fire.

I absolutely love this series. It's an interesting take on the Napoleonic Wars and the dragons are wonderful characters. The other books are worth checking out.

picked this up at the Calgary January 2016 meeting
intriguing mix of history and fantasy, and loved the interaction between the naïve young dragon and his reluctant new handler
Somehow I missed journaling this book when I brought it home a year ago! Going to take this set of 3 books to Hawaii to read on my holiday. Might be a good one to then have my husband read.
Well - the daunting 3 package finally made it with me on our Hawaii vacation as I thought it would be good for my husband also. Made as error and accidentally had book 2 in my carryon and my husband snaffled it from me after a few pages. He discovered I had made the mistake and read them out of order. SO I have now clearly marked it as book 2. Loved the addition of dragons to the wars between France and England. Nice combination.
I am taking this to the March meetup at Cravings.
Missed registering this one.

Picked up at the monthly Book Crossing meeting at Cravings Market Restaurant
This was a great read, I am hesitant to pick up an alternate history book, due to the fact that I'm not the biggest historical fiction fan, but apparently I just needed some dragons to make it more interesting. Love love love Laurence and Temeraire's relationship!!
Will release at the monthly book crossing meeting at Cravings Market Restaurant.
