The Daughter of Time

"Now established as one of the most popular and enduring of crime classics, The Daughter of Time investigates the questions that surround Richard III, the most hated King of England.
Was he a murderer, the moster of nursery stories, a synonym for villainy? Lying in a hospital bed, Detective Alan Grant stared at the portrait, unconvinced. The face that was propped up in front of him was not, in his professional opinion, that of a killer.
With the help of a young American he sets out on a unique investigation into a murder commited 500 years ago."
An excellent read, whether you're usually into mysteries or not. Highly recommended. :)

On its way to the first reader!
Received today - thanks very much.
This was a very interesting read, I'd like to find out more about the subject myself now too.
Living in Leicestershire, I've been to Bosworth battlefield quite a few times and historians have found that the actual site is a few miles away from where they originally thought. So if they can get that wrong, other things may be wrong too.

Posted to silvia-pco today.
First of all, I'm sorry it took me so long to pick this up, I got caught up on my huge TBR pile.
It's curious that I should start reading this book just now. A few months ago I read The White Queen by Phillippa Gregory, which talks about none other than Elizabeth Woodville, Richard the III's sister-in-law. I certainly wouldn't be able to enjoy this book as much as I did if I hadn't read The White Queen, which gave me a little historical background on the subject.
Being Portuguese, this doesn't speak to me as much as it would to someone from the UK, but I enjoy it nonetheless. I'm a great fan of mysteries and this one was quite different from the ones I'm used too. The whole idea of Richard not being guilty of his nephew's supposed murder was very interesting to me. It seems that Richard is always portrayed as the meanest, most ville man, and this book presented a totally different view that does make sense.
The writing style was very appealing and I quite liked how the whole book was set on such a simple set as a hospital room. Very well developed.
Thanks so much for sharing. I will be passing this on to Totje2 as soon as I get an address.
Update: I couldn't find Totje2 on the member's database, so I assume he/she is no longer a bookcrosser. I will ask madpocky for his/her address and send the book along.
Update 2: madpocky isn't available to get the book now; she asked to be skipped, so I contacted NMReader and I'm waiting for an answer.
