"The national bestselling alternate history epic continues... Ten years after The Change rendered technology inoperable throughout the world, two brave leaders built two thriving communities in Oregon's Willamette Valley. But now the armies of the totalitarian Protectorate are preparing to wage war over the priceless farmland."
Haven't read, was given for bookcrossing.

This is part 2 of Dies the Fire -series, so I hope to release this with part 1 and 3.

The second part was okay as well. Now that the initial catastrophe and the big die-off is over, the story was as not as brutal. Nine years have gone and things have been settled down somewhat. The survivors have learned to live in the changed world and have formed weird communities like pseudo-Tolkinesque Bearkillers, Celtic-Wiccan MacKenzies and the Oregon State University commnunity. But a conflict is brewing with the powerful and hostile Protectorate of Portland... Also, it was intersting to hear how the rest of the world had survived (not well, except some remote islands like Tasmania and Gotland).

I think Stirling received feedback of his first book, because in this book the Finnish and Swedish words were written without typos :-)
