I read this book in my teens and enjoyed it immensely then. I've now reread it and it still holds. It's a wonderful tale of morals and race but most of all about childhood. I'm confident anybody will enjoy it. If you are not a native reader - do not let the Southern dialect and language deter you - it is a wonderful read. My warmest recommendations.

On the first day that I found out about BookCrossing and entered the site, I tried to find any books that were released anywhere in greece. I came upon this book that was released in Amorgos. *I* was in Athens, but my friends were there!!! I got one of them on the phone and tried to explain everything quickly, and made them RUN and get the book as fast as they could... They turned the world upside sown, but there wasn't a place called "Ododin"... At one point, they thought that it could be "Dodoni", a very famous branch that sells ice-cream all over Greece. Bingo! That was were the book was left, alas the book wasn't there! A girl who worked in that coffee shop had got it, but the owner said that he'd ask her to bring it to them the next day... Indeed the next day, the book was in one of my friends hands... It took me a couple of months before I met my friend, but now the Mocking Bird has found a safe temporary home!

So, Cathrine... I have your book and as I promised I will read it and release it again in the wild...

I finished reading the book a couple of days ago, and I’m really happy that I’ve read it. I understand why it is so much loved.

In the beginning the southern dialect was a bit of a problem, but I did get used to it. Scout is such an adorable kid. And Atticus is so serene and progressive as a father. These two characters will stay with me for a long time. There are plenty of scenes that I liked (Scout talking unintentionally Mr. Cunningham and the rest of his gang out of going against Tom Robinson the night before the trial, for example), but one was particularly sweet: Boo Radley asking Scout to take him home after he had saved Jem’s life.

I’m glad that the first book I’ve read through bookcrossing was this one. Now I really want to make sure that the next person who finds it will read and enjoy it and eventually release it again for somebody else to read.

Journal Entry 5 by apapsa at Café Odeon in Pagkrati - Παγκράτι, Attica Greece on Monday, December 15, 2003
Released on Monday, December 15, 2003 at "ODEON" Cafe at Markou Mousourou, Mets in Athens, Athens Greece.

I finally set the book free... I was trying really hard to find a safe place to leave it, but now that I left it I'm dead worried about it :-(

I thought I'd leave it in a place where another bookcrosser has already left an english book, so that the same person might pick it up. However, the owner of the cafe was very syspicious of the purposes of bookcrossing (he doesn't speak english as I found out), so I sincerely hope he won't throw it away. And I sure hope that some other bookcrosser goes there fast and save it.
