This is set at the time of the Crimean War, and revolves around a doctor, George Hardy - the Master Georgie of the title. We never see events unfolding from his perspective, though. The story is told from the point of view of other characters in his life. There is some good writing, but not a great deal happens in terms of the plot! Maybe I'm too dense to understand such literary writing :)
