I wasn't quite sure of what to expect from this best selling thriller. It starts well, almost cosily, with a crusading journalist framed for libelling a corrupt businessman. He is enlisted by a rich man to investigate an unsolved disappearance from many years ago. He begins his research...
There is also the title character, a misunderstood, possibly autistic, somewhat antisocial goth girl and genius investigator (and "expert hacker")...
Then everything gets nastier and the rape, serial killing and torture start to come to the forefront.
The journalist and avenging goth girl get together (in more ways than one), and things get resolved.
Biting expose of corruption? Feminist revenge fantasy? Other kind of fantasy (the hero, based on the author, certainly seems to get all the girls)? Anyway, a lot of people seem to like it.
