I found this book whilst I was on holiday in Cornwall. We visited Mousehall far prettier than the name would suggest. On leaving one of the many galleries I noticed a box of books in the doorway of a house, on investigation there was a sign saying if you would like any books please put a ÂŁ1 fpr each through the letterbox.

Really enjoyed this book where David goes on an adventure which takes you into the realm of fairytales but none of them are quite as you remember them. Also enjoyed the afterword which provided some history and the original versions of the fairy tales used in the book.

A different read from my normal type of book but I quite enjoyed it. I thought the ending was a bit rushed though as if the author was in a terrible hurry to get the book finished. It started off well when the boy David is traumatised after the death of his mother and the boy descends into a pit of despair and jealousy when his father marries again and they have a little boy called Georgie. It reminded me a little of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe but this time when David crawls into the trunk of a tree he finds himself in another world inhabited by man/wolves and other weird creatures.

I just think the ending could have been prolonged a bit more when he is back with his family and not just rushed through like a train hurtling through a tunnel so that in the space of about a page or two he is suddenly an old man himself.

Hi! I had never heard of the book crossing until I picked up this book near Friar's Crag in Keswick, Cumbria whilst on holiday (02/04/12). It lay on a bench and several people passed it by thinking it had been left by accident or was a joke (possibly due to the title!). However, on further investigation I found that it was a book on a journey...what a lovely idea! It contains a note to say that it was found at Aysgarth Falls in September 2011 (not logged here) and once read, I shall continue its journey. I have to say, finding this book made a lovely day out even better, thank you.
