The latest (Nov 2010) in the Lt. Eve Dallas and Rourke franchise.
The plot of this one closely parallels earlier novels in the series, which is becoming very formulaic. Without revealing too much of the plot, it is obvious to the reader where this is going much earlier than it apparently becomes obvious to the heroine.
Set in a near future stragely similar to the present, the whiz-bang technology serves only as a sort of detection "deus ex machina" that short-circuits what would otherwise take too long - instant computer searches instead of paper records, instant ID instead of long DNA sequencing, fast travel but still traffic jams. And, the technology that is supposed to be protective, security systems, smart camera networks, face recognition and tracking is strangely fallible and easily circumvented, when it suits the plot.
Not a bad read on a leisure afternoon, and it won't keep you up at night. And, oh yes, the obligatory cosmic sex scenes that could make it into a teen novel, they are so non-graphic, which are so characteristic of this author.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Left on a chair during a Saturday flu shot clinic.
Found last night in Dr. McCallum's office, began reading while waiting for my appointment. Looking forward to snuggling in tonight and reading what appears will be another good novel by this author!
