An entertaining light novel of wealthy America. Enjoyable, but I'm not sure it will save your life exactly. 'With one bound he was free', clearly works if money's no object, as it wasn't for the hero. However, the end was satisfactory.

Picked up at the December meeting.
I enjoyed all the insane things that seem to happen in LA on a daily basis, the weird dialogues were pretty funny as well, all these strange characters! I thought Richard is a great character. I wouldn't say it's saved my life either, what it has done though is made me want to eat donuts!
Picked up this evening at an Edinburgh BookCrossing mini-meet with visiting Australian meganh, I have a plan to either a great travel release or make a great themed release with this - watch this space - woo hoo!

No time really to write a review but just HAVE to dive onto the BookCrossing site to say wow this was totally brilliant!!! The surreal ending gave me a few minutes horrible reminder of Pi - I had loved its beginning but been left feeling mystified and missing out as many raved about how wonderful it was, but I disappointingly just didn’t get it.
But if I fuzz up my memory a little of the ending of This Book Will Save Your Life I can do my best to remove the panicky feeling I got of what's next here, drowning misery or impending shark attack, and I’m still right there with the YAHOO that was a blast feeling! Do want to write more but it will have to be later...

One of the praise quotes says lots I can agree with ‘This book is a gentle, entertaining antidote to the over-achievements of much of modern life…it shifts your perspective on life in the most darkly entertaining way’ OBSERVER.
Having already had my perspective on life shifted in a dark way by the entrance of my own mystery pain moments (turned out to be sciatica and stress) I was very receptive to this. So I followed attentively, the entertaining descriptions of Richards’s mystery pain attacks and his reactions to them. Then the little ‘walks on the wild-side’ he slid into were often times hilarious, as Richard’s focus was disengaged from his usual world view. There was much guffawing from me, even in public while being transported by bus and laughing out loud is not my usual thing. So there we have it, guffawing and much chortling on my side of the page and I have the feeling that A. M. Homes had a blast writing this too.

Received well wrapped in an intriguing parcel coated with an empty frozen peas bag! 10 points for reusing rubbish! The book will get added to the RNLI College Slipway Bar OBCZ on Monday morning to continue the journey!
Picked up with the intention to read but then decided to move so got packed amongst a load of books and apologetically left for a few months..Unfortunately I've got plenty of books to read so won't get round to reading this so will release as part of some others that will also get released in Totton, Hampshire.
