Subtitle: The Classroom Experiment That Went Too Far
Read this years ago and still think it's pretty scary. Novelization of a movie (which I haven't seen) based on a real-life incident. (Warning: link contains spoilers.)
Originally published under the pseudonym "Morton Rhue".
Here's another copy on my shelf.

Thanks for sharing this one! It arrived super-fast -- your book is going in the mail on Monday (we've been a bit snowed under here in mid-Missouri, but are finally dug out).
So, right upfront, the writing is terrible. I suppose this is why:
This book, written under the pen name of Morton Rhue in the United States, is a novelisation of the telemovie of the same name, which was based on a short story by Ron Jones about a real event.
But it's only a bit over 100 pages, so it's not a bad way to spend an afternoon. While I probably should have just tracked down the short story and read that instead, the book tells the basic outline of the story, which is pretty interesting. Basically, a high school history teacher starts an experiment to try to teach his kids about Nazi Germany and it gets way out of hand really quickly. It's an interesting reminder of the way that adolescents really want to be part of a group and have lots of energy for organizing things and a fair amount of time on their hands, but usually that's directed to directionlessness rather than organization.
Anyway, an interesting diversion, if painfully poorly written.

Mailed to booklady331 for the General Literature VBB.
The book arrived today. some of my students at school have been talking about this book. I appreciate you sharing it with me.
An interesting look at human nature. I read this book as the World was going through a pandemic and I see how people just fall in line. It amazes me how many people attack those who do not agree with them and what we should do. I believe this could really happen in our world.
