This was my first book by Alice Munro. I've heard so much praise for her books that my expectations were quite high when I started reading this. Well, I have to say that the stories were okay, some of them better and more interesting than others, but not one of them made a huge impression. Reading was enjoyable, and I might read some more Munro someday, but she didn't become one of my favourite writers (which I, for some reason, kind of expected).

This book has been on my night table for some weeks. I've enjoyed reading these short stories. There is a lot of love, yearning ror love and suffering for love. What striked me was how weak were the characters of men Alice Munro described in the collection.

I'll read more Alice Munro in the future but I won't run to a bookstore to buy all her books right away. Nice introduction though. Thanks Tintti.
