Bill Bryson's African Diary
2 journalers for this copy...
Wonderful, classic Bryson plus a good cause -- he travels to Kenya to write about the efforts and successes there of the charity CARE. Along the way he has adventures in train and air travel and meets wonderful people, and offers witty quips about every moment. A great reminder of the vast undertakings of charities around the world, which are actually a huge conglomeration of many tiny efforts and sacrifices by many dedicated and unsung volunteers.
I will release this one tonight in the building where I have my Russian class on GWU campus. I think it should find some friends among the students there, particularly those studying foreign languages and cultures.

Found this book a few weeks ago outside my Quechua language course at GWU University. It had been a long day and that night, after learning about a woman's childhood in the Bolivian countryside and plotting plans in my mind for a journey to come, I came across this book in the foggy glass stairwell. This is the first Bill Bryson book I've read. I'm now a fellow page traveler. It was the trip I didn't know I was looking for.
Will leave it in Midcity Cafe on 14th St. DC.
