An amazing story - a fictionalisation of the event that led eventually to the discovery of the cause of sepsis, and the principles of antiseptics. I remember learning in biology at school about Alexander Gordon and his discovery that puerperal fever was spread between women by midwives and doctors failing to wash their hands between patients - such a simple and obvious idea now, but totally revolutionary at the time.
An important story beautifully told.
