I hope you enjoy the book. It branches off from the Night Huntress series. Spade is the main character here, this book doesn't do him justice. We get yet another kind of supernatural creature. Not sure we needed it...

Off to Washington state. Hope you stick with the series this far. Or at least have fun with the books.

This arrived in the mail today. I'm looking forward to starting this series. Probably will take me a little bit to get started in it, as I'm going on vacation next week (to Tucson) and like to take books that I'm ok wild releasing. Will probably start the first one after I get back.

To help ensure that things run smoothly (or that is the plananyhow), I've put together a few rough guidelines for this one. I know that some people take longer to read a book (busy, got a bunchof books to read before, work, kids, etc)...
1. Please try to have this book read within 3 weeks. I know thisisn't possible, but if you make an effort to try that is all I can ask.
2. Please journal when you receive the book.
3. When about halfway through, please contact the next person on the list for their mailing address.
4. Please journal again when you've read the book and it is on its way.
5. Have fun! Reading is supposed to be fun!

Another good book by Jeaniene Frost. It took me a little bit to get into the story about Denise and Spade but then about halfway through I was hooked. At first I wasn't sure about adding the Demon/Demon mark element, but I liked it in the end. Thanks again ThanksMom for sending this series my way!

Oh yay! When I looked up Jeaniene Frost recently to get a list of all her books, I read about this one, but I didn't realize you were including it in the spiral, so what a wonderful surprise!

It was great to dive into the backgrounds of Denise and Spade, as they were so far secondary characters in Cat & Bones adventures. I liked it quite a lot though, as always, I found some parts of the story to drag a little bit too much. But, there’s a good pace and the author knows how to get the reader really fast into the story and making it difficult to stop. It’s a good read and I do hope to see more of Denise and Spade in the future, as they’re lovable characters, as much Cat and Bones are in the main series.

It will move along to the reader this coming week!

EDIT: The book is now on its way to Rrrcaron since Nov 16th!

An excellent addition to the Night Huntress series - this one lies between Destined for an Early Grave and This Side of the Grave and is a side story dealing with Spade (yowza!) and Denise. Denise is Cat's human friend who loses her husband Randy in an earlier book - she's back and has been marked by a demon. Denise enlists the help of Spade to locate a relative that can free her of her marks. Denise is a gutsy intelligent heroine and the romance between her and Spade is excellent. There's lots of action, great dialogue, and oh yeah the steamy bits are extra hot. A nice side trip - and although I like Cat and Bones best, I wouldn't mind seeing more of Denise and Spade.

Should get this one packed up for penelopewanders and off sometime next week along with the short story anthology.

Very entertaining spin-off from the Cat and Bones series... It was also an unusual detail to have Denise's family sitting shiva - I've read so many stories recently about priests etc., that it was nice to remember there are other beliefs out there. A bit baffled about the relationship between her distant cousin Nathanial and the priest, though. Now I look forward to reading the next of this series as well!

Just received this book, thank you, can't wait to read it!

Journal Entry 23 by JonniC at Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom on Monday, August 12, 2013
This book was soooooo good, not what I was expecting, but definitely cleared some things straight since I read "This Side Of The Grave" before this one.

Jeaniene Frost brings in a new type of creature, a demon... Called Raum. I found him extremely scary and if demons will now appear in future books, I will find them more engaging as there is bound to be different species, all with different powers and it'll be something new, something we can explore. As I feel vampires have been explored to the ends of the Earth and back, apart from their backgrounds.

I liked the insight to Spade, someone who was just in the background, ever helpful to Bones and Cat, but we never worked out why he kept a barrier up against falling for people, yet here is our answer. And now he has Denise, the perfect match.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series. And I hope to get this out to the next person in line this week.
