Finally got around to reading this one. My first time reading this author, I enjoyed the way she wove the story of current time with an ancestor's writings on her family history and what the Runaway Quilt means.
I will definately look for more books by this author.
This book is ready for a new home

The RABK arrived safely today; many thanks for thinking of me!!
In this installment, Sylvia researches her family's participation in aiding the Underground Railroad by using their quilts to signal slaves on the run. Sylvia discovers three quilts and a memoir written by her great grandfather's sister, Gerda, who details her family's life at Elm Creek Manor. This was a wonderful book and I can't wait for the next one.
Sending out in the ABC bookring box.
I read a library copy in 2009, when I was reading the whole series in one swoop.
Notes from my copy:
continuing in the Elm Creek series. Sylvia meets a fellow quilter, who has a family heirloom that was called the "Elm Creek Quilt" and certainly seemed to depict the old homestead in stitches. Sylvia scours the attic and finds 3 quilts that don't match this heirloom quilt, but also finds Gerda's memoir. Turns out that Hans and Anneke, with Gerda, inadvertently, became a station on the underground railroad. When a slave that was raped by her master & gave birth at the Bergstrom's farm is recaptured, leaving her son behind, the son is raised as a "twin" to Anneke's son - and Gerda doesn't reveal which child was which - leaving Sylvia wondering if she was really a descendant of Hans and Anneke....or the slave, Joanna. And the "elm creek quilt" was likely made by Joanna.

This looks a little "girly" for me, but I'm swayed by the good reviews. Snapping it up out of this bookbox.
