Synopsis
Fact: Chocolate contains the alkaloid theobromine, which in high doses can be toxic to humans, and in even small amounts can kill dogs, parrots, horses, and cats.
This means that despite its name, the Kit-Kat candy bar is not a recommended snack for your kitty-cat. I wonder how many cats have died because of this confusion.
Fact: The most germ-laden place on your toilet isn't the seat or even the bowl:
It's the handle.
The solution: Don't flush. Let the next guy worry about it.
There are "just the facts"--and then there are just the facts that will frighten the bejeezus out of you. And thanks to this little gem of a bathroom book, you'll never look at the world the same way again, without, er, dry heaving a little bit.
From the sneaky fish that can swim up our genitals to the e coli bacteria lurking in the very water we drink, disturbing phenomena are everywhere we turn. Educational, entertaining, and undeniably horrifying, this book isn't guaranteed to help you, um, go to the bathroom, but it's certain to make your time there more . . . informed.

Arrived and snagged by my husband. We're both reading it during political ads on TV!
Impossible to read straight through, but hard to put down! I kept it in the living room for easy grabbing during some of hubby's shows and/or commercials. I ended up reading a good number of the entries aloud to him -- always ending in a belly laugh. The author's snarky remarks are just the thing for lightening-up all of those stats. All told, my favorite fact was #755 -- Fascinating!

Arrived safe and sound today! I'm very very curious about this book. I couldn't resist and started reading the introduction (which is hilarious!) and so on. I've read at least a dozen facts and actually laughed for quite a while because of the author's snarky comments. Thanks for sharing, NMReader! This one is quite promising.

Finished! This book is just hillarious. I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard with something this month! The facts are very interesting - and some of them, of course, quite scary - but it's the author's snarky remaks that make it so worth reading. I tried to pick favourites... but then again, half of the book would be there. Although most of the are quite depressing. And by the way, I do hope this book hasn't been actually read in the bathroom... Even if the most germ-laden place on our toilet is the handle, I suspect it could also be this book :P
Thanks for the ring! PMing the next BCer for the address.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Sent off to kizmiaz this morning :)
Just got it.
I'll get to it soon.
I'll get to it soon.
Ok, this was mildly amusing.
Some of the facts are indeed scary but most are just curious facts. Most of the one line jokes after the fact itself are plain dumb jokes and some of them aren't even funny.
It was an interesting read anyway. And next time you're feeling like your life sucks just remember that the longest hiccup attack a person suffered lasted for 69 years!
I'll be passing it along when I get an address.

It's here! Being the kind of book it is, I won't even put in in my TBR pile; I'll just start to read it during the breaks from other books :)
Wow, 69 years of hiccups. And I thought 5 minutes was annoying.
The book is quite interesting, with some funny facts and other that are indeed scary. The one about Jeffrey Dahmer (which obviously falls into the "scary" category" was the one that stuck to my mind the most, it's one of those things that make you wonder).
It was a good way to pass the time and relax in between other books, and I ended up reading it over the weekend. Some of the jokes were funny, others fell a bit flat, as kizmiaz pointed out. But, well, I wouldn't be able to write 10 really funny jokes, let alone 1001, so kudos to the author for trying and (sometimes) succeeding.
The book's already on its way to salvami. Thanks for sharing!
