Liebe/r Finderin/Finder,

"Celebrating the world's indigenous musical traditions, this book-and-music package spans all seven continents with tracks representing Native Americans, Australian Aborigines, Eskimos, and many other groups. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the United National Center for Human Rights. Produced on recycled paper. 80 photos, 60 in color."

Zitat amazon customers review:
"Excellent samples of various groups and locations all over the world. The range is from Tuvan throat singers, Inuit songs, the Australian Aborigne digeridoo, three Native American pieces among others, but there is something from every geographical area and musical style. If you are interested in a wide variety of groups or would like to hear samples of various groups, this audio set is useful as it gives a taste and an introduction to different ethnic group music styles. The accompanying booklet is a very useful resource in learning more about the music, the culture and in some cases, the performers of these pieces.

The book that accompanies the audio cassettes is superbly produced with high quality color pictures, notes about the artists, descriptions of the culture, and remarks about the recording process for each track. As a one-purchase introduction to the music of indigenous peoples, it can't be beat. But be careful for after reading about and listening to this music, you may find yourself wanting to purchase lots more music you only get to sample here."

This is a great introduction to various ethnic music styles. The book gives quite a bit of background information about world music, cultures and artists - from a social anthropologist's point of view though (one doesn't learn much about the atrocious human rights violations inflicted on many of the ethnic groups, but that's not what it is about, I simply noticed) - combined with good colour photography. Book & tapes are an excellent pairing and certainly help towards a better appreciation of other cultures.

Wow! This is amazing! I am deeply touched. This book is so colourful, and I am interested in it so much. I always loved to see different cultures on TV, now I can hear their music. Presently I am in the mood of making new relationships around me, and this book is also about people! Fascinating. This book will go on, I promise, since it needs to be shared with others... :)) Thank you ApoloniaX for mailing this book to me, and thank you literaDiva for registering such a pearl on Bookcrossing!!

I really enjoyed this. The only thing I would change is I would have like a bit more information on each group. I liked it so much I got my own copy

Oops, delayed journalling and now I'm in the wrong order! Bonnie, you might like to journal again to fix it.

Received from Esme-Weatherwax to bring to Sweden, where I left it on the audio books table.

Only managed to look at a bit of it, and didn't listen at all, but it looks interesting, and I wish I'd made time to at least read more.
