starbytes recently read her first Coupland book (Hey Nostradamus!) and I am mailing this one to her for her upcoming birthday (along with The Magicians). Why this one, of all the Coupland books I have? Well, first off, I haven't read this one, and second off, I just got this copy a couple of days ago because, if all goes well, by the time I put this in the mail it will have a personal birthday greeting for Betty written and signed by Douglas Coupland himself. Yup, my wife and I will be seeing Coupland in-person tomorrow evening for a CBC Radio Book Club interview, after which he'll be signing copies of this book. I'm going to start my copy any minute now and plan to finish it by 5 p.m. tomorrow.
I procrastinated and didn't put starbytes's birthday parcel in the mail until Tuesday, October 12th, 2010. However, the parcel arrived just two days later, right on cexy's birthday! Wooooo-hooooo! And, yes, the book was indeed signed by Coupland with "Happy Birthday Betty!"
