The book has arrived savely. Thanks for sending Sidney1, also for the Christmas card (very early indeed!).

Interesting read! Once I started in the book, I couldn't put it down anymore. Wow, this is the first shortlisted book that doesn't need any forcing myself to keep reading. Good to know that they exist (excuse my bitterness, but I was sincerely getting frustrated about this)!
The book is written through the eyes of a young bow, who has never lived anywhere else than in Room; the room his mother was kept by the man who kidnapped her years ago. The perspective of the little boy results in some interesting observations and a nice story. Definitely one that I've enjoyed!
Thanks for sharing this one Sidney1! I'll contact the next on the list to keep the ring going.

Sent to Mafarrimond today. Enjoy!
I have high hopes for this book. Will read asap
An incredible story that keeps the reader spellbound. I think this my favourite of the short listed books I have read so far.
Posting on to earthcaroleanne. Enjoy!

Arrived today. Many thanks. I have another before this but I'm sure it won't take me long.

I'm afraid it took me longer than usual to get to this because, like franaloe, I'm getting a little disheartened by the books on the short list. This was voted the best by The Culture Show's panel so I had slightly higher hopes but on starting it I wasn't so sure anymore. However, if you can get through the 5 year-old speak it does become a book you can't put down.
Off to Germany.
just received - looks like a nice copy with large, good-readable print (I guess I am getting old) - thx!
I very much enjoyed reading this book, although it was a haevy, thrilling and sad story. During the chapter "After" I thought for a while, that things got a little un-authentic (when Ma and Jack got separated). All in all, a great book and a very authentic voice (Jack - so adorable!).
What I really wonder, is, if the author got the idea for her story, after Natascha Kampusch got liberated in Vienna, which happened in 2006.
"Room" is travelling back to Sidney1 today.
