1985 St. Martin's Press hardcover. This was on my list of best past mysteries to read when I found this copy some months ago in the free books pile on the porch of Dimond Library.

Edit August 19, 2021: I enjoyed the opening sequence of this, which involves a familiar, iconic East Bay street intersection. But then I could not really get into the whole mystery case after that, so I just skimmed to end for time. I currently have this ranked at #1072 on my ranked list of best-read books lately.
