Adapted from Berlie Doherty's award-winning book, the play examines how two teenagers cope with an unplanned pregnancy. Tackling the issues of relationships, love and pregnancy, Dear Nobody is the story of two teenagers, Helen and Chris, in their final year of school. Their plans for music college and university are suddenly thrown into disarray when Helen falls pregnant. Chris tries to keep them together, but Helen withdraws into herself, writing letters to her unborn baby. Sensitively adapted from the best-selling novel, this play is perfect for school performance.

Ich werde es im Juli im Rahmen der Assoziationschallenge lesen und zwar zu den Oberbegriffen "nackt" und "Opal"
Nackt: Nackt macht man Liebe.
My opinion:
Of the age of 13 I read a lot of such books. About teenagers who having a baby together. But now I don't read such books often, because their are similar. Why I read this book, except it is in English and I wanted to improve my English, is that on the backside is written "together or apart" which remains me of my favourite film. I love this sentence and so I gave this book a chance.
Helen is in the final class, want to go to the music college. Chris is also in the final class ,want to go to university. They love each other - their first love. And they slept together. Helen is getting worse, everbody thinks she's having a flu. But she knows, that she's pregant. She writes letter and calls the baby "my little nobody". In the first time she wanted the baby to leave her. And than everbody knows what is really going on. Do Chris and Helen really want a baby with the age of 18?
I love the first sentences and I read them again and again: Maybe we all want to burn off across the horizion, into space, perhaps, to take off into some unknwon territory and meet ourselves out there. This book is a kind of journey, but I don't know yet where it's going to end.
Chris is the narrator, but he also shows Helens letters. I wondered why Doherty is not ónly talking of Helens view. I think it's better, when it's only about Helens feelings ...
The language was not a easy read. It was hard to unterstand and I was fighting with the British words. After a few pages I wanted to give it up, because I only unterstand the main part and no details. It was a pity ...
And there are always the same expressions! "A godness sake" for example. It's strange, because everbody says it and so the characters are similar together.
And I don't like Helen. She hurts Chris and it doesn't matter to her. I feel so sorry for Chris. I also don't like the end, because the baby is getting a name. Why must the baby have a name? It's better without.
Bummer, I was disappointed of the book!
