Picked this up for cheap at the local used book store--- every once and a while the very limited english section provides a bounty, and today was one of those days! :) Have always wanted to read this book, and finally found a copy!

From the back: "More than fifty years on, Iris Chase is remembering Laura's mysterious death. And so begins an extraordinary and compelling story of two sisters and their secrets."

Will get to it soon!

Amazing book--- truly. Surprising, human, quirky, and tragic, but with moments of wonder, delight and obesssion--- i really enjoyed it. Atwood is so creative, but at the same time never trite. Her words are always carefully chosen and meaningful. And that is pretty significant given the size of this book... :) The twist was subtle-- i only got it about half way through. The characters were so well developed in this book (particularly the narrator's), despite the secrets, pretensions, and sometimes evasive way the narrator unfolded the story. It was great! Well done Margaret-- another masterpiece.
