I plucked this off the 'Table of Temptation' at the Swindon Unconvention, and have already read half of the book on the train, bus and plane home to SW France. It was a great weekend with a crowd of fellow Book Crossers.

I'm glad I took MissMarkey's advice and took this book from The Table. It's a whodunnit with a definite Italian tongue-in-cheek style of humour. I don't usually enjoy translations, but this one was well done and I will definitely watch out for more in the series. A quick, light read with some great characters.
My only complaint has nothing to do with the story - I dislike books that have a few chapters from the next book by the author. I was jogging along happily, having only read 270 pages, when I turned a page and found it had come to an end, 50/320 are from the next book!
Good to meet you in Swindon MissMarkey and thanks for bringing this one along.

Yet another author introduced to me by Bluenoser - thank you - and after the deep seriousness of Rose Tremain's The Colour, I needed something lighter to read. Perhaps because I like Donna Leon's Commissario Guido Brunetti, I found Commissario Montalbano to be rather less interesting but the story was well-crafted and quite funny in parts. I too was disappointed to find I'd finished 50 pages before I thought I was going to but I was beginning to wonder how much more it had to run.
As the Cafe Kismet is now closed for a week, I'll release it in about 10 days time.
