It is Thomas Cale´s story and before it is done he will have loved, killed, outwitted, saved or betrayed those who coss his path. He will have no choice... the fate of the world lies in his hands.

My oppinion of the book:
I was a bit hesitant about the category of the book. It is set, as far as I can tell so far, in an alternative history, round about the middle ages. There is strictly speaking no magic or advanced sciens to make this either Fantasy or Sciens-Fiction, but I didn´t know where else to put this, as it is set in an alternative past so different from our own.

A violently fanatic brotherhood is waging war against a people with differnt (opposing) belief. It apparently is a stalemate, so they secretly built up their army. They do so by ubducting /bying small boys and running them through a crule and tough training to be warrior-priests. The believe seems to be about a "hanged redeemer". Jesus is known, but not the same person... and apparently not woreshiped. The whole is a bit unclear as far as the believe system goes.
Thomas Cole is a boy in training. He is one of the best as far as fighting and strategy goes... and then he manages to escape with two friends, rescuing a girl that is beeing tormented (the cause for the attempt to flee).
