I found this softcover graphic-novel adaptation of Bradbury's classic book about censorship at the local Book Cellar, and couldn't resist giving it a try. [I'd seen the 1966 film version back when it came out, but I don't recall being that impressed with it, FWIW.]

Later: A good adaptation, obviously with some abridgment but still effective. Modern technology has added some twists - there's a lot more non-book-type distraction out there, but there are also a lot more books, and we have the capability to store an insane amount of text on tiny digital gadgets (though one still needs some kind of device in order to read them). But "more" isn't necessarily "better", and while the classics don't seem to be going away any time soon, this book still raises the question of what we-who-love-books would do if the books *were* taken away.

I was charmed to see, in Bradbury's 2009 introduction to this adaptation, his suggestion that readers do think of which book they'd memorize and why. I found myself wondering whether I *could* memorize an entire book; I have snippets of lots of books memorized, amusing conversations between favorite characters etc., but nothing like the entire volumes. And which book would I most want to have by rote? Hmmmm....

[See the TV Tropes page here - having TV Tropes discuss this book is perhaps an ironic touch, what with the book being set in a world where people are urged to ditch books in favor of TV!]
