An interesting mixture between a travel book, philosophical essay, biographical "find yourself" ramblings, comedy and cook book. Believe it or not, it works together beautifully!
The author is an Indian Sikh, born and raised in Glasgow, and as an adult he sets off to India on an epic journey to discover where he came from. Normal enough. But he really likes food, and since Indian food is so popular in the UK, he has a great idea for bonding with everyone he meets in India: he will cook them British food! Like a cultural exchange! This often fails miserably (and hilariously); no one likes his British food, and some of the British dishes he tries to cook end up being so heavily improvised in the Indian kitchens and due to lack of original ingredients that they're barely even British, anyway.

Given to a friend who is going to India.
