I was surprised to read that Raymond Chandler had been around as long as he had, though this read did have an old,crunchy feel to it....the dialogue reminded me of 1970's tv serials. I've not read detective fiction before, save Agatha Christie ones which are a bit of a league of their own. Must admit i'm not really keen, though the novel was tightly woven and the characters well crafted.

I quickly read this book, so I could send it on to the winner of a sweepstake.
Even though it was a small book I struggled to get through it. The conversation wasn't that entertaining and the book just didn't seem that 'well crafted'.
