Picked this up for cheap-- hardcover. I loved "Wicked" of course. Liked "Son of a Witch" less (second in the series), but it was still quite good. Looking forward to completing the trilogy with this third entry.

From the overleaf: "While civil war looms in Oz, a tetchy oracle named Yackle prepares for death. Berfore her final hour, an emigmatic figure called Brrr--- the cowardly lion-- arrives searching for information.... [this book] chronicles a battle of wits hastened by the Emerald City's approaching armies."

Will get to it soon!

Ugh....

Well not 'ugh' exactly...

But really--- this was the weakest of the three books, in my opinion. It was SO hard to get into it--- the writing in the first 20 pages was torture. Things picked up a bit as the story got going, and the ending was not horrible, but this book definitely did not have the magic, insight or creativity of the previous two, in my opinion.

Brr was charmless, vapid and frankly a little boring, despite the strange life he led (or was led into--- he didn't choose anything really). And his obsession with these random, weird and always sad moments in his life... blarg. Yackle was interesting as usual, but her dialogue was scattered sometimes. And if you hadn't read the other two books, most of the last third of the book wouldn't have made any sense. I also was super confused by Shadowpuppet at the end--- what was the point?

Anyway, it is not that I hated the book--- i just had high expectations based on the other two, and this one did not live up to them. Ah well--- two out of three ain't bad!

Will release soon

ooh! first time that I actually catch one of those 'bookcrossing' books, even if I heard about the things years ago. Basically I just work at the place it was left, so... every week we find some books forgotten here and there, in bags, caddies etc. For once it was on puropose, thank you! Still to be read but already wondering where I can let it go in order to be found. hmmm...
