Product Description
Fulcanelli is an "Enchanter," an ancient engineer/alchemist who is able to imbue the weapons and gadgets he constructs with magical powers. Transformed into a demonic being after his death, he is always accompanied by his demon lover Eukanaria. Due to circumstances still unknown, his is in need of a new body. Until one can be found, Eukanaria must guard the pendant containing his soul from the many demonic forces that wish to obtain his great power for their own. In the present day, Haruhiko Kanou is an ordinary boy good with machines and nursing a crush on his science teacher and neighbor Yuki Fujiwara. Little does he know, he is Fulcanelli's perfect double and Eukanaria has tracked him down...

Tried to read a couple of days ago.
I got about halfway through and gave up.

This just...isn't very good. A demon called Fulcanelli is reincarnated (I think? It wasn't explicitly stated in the pages I read but I'm pretty sure that's where the plot was headed) as a teenager named Haruhiko, who is totally in love with the girl next door who grew up to be his science teacher. Her doppelganger, Eukanaria, pops up looking for Fulcanelli and latches onto Haruhiko, who freaks out because the sluttily dressed demon looks just like his crush/teacher/childhood best friend.

Apparently my patience for a comic where all the characters have the same face is pretty limited. Maybe the story would be better if I read the whole thing, but it seemed to chaotic and scattered for my tastes.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This has some fun themes to explore!

I liked the idea of fighting over his body to bring back her beloved and that cross interspecies love and all that. But fan service was really getting on my nerves. It was clearly made for teen boys and was over the top. I feel like if they focused more on the actual story and forgot the other nonsense, this would have been really great. Ah well, onto to someone new.

But my goal was to swap in as many books that were likely to be unknown by others, as possible. I love spreading around underground or lesser known things. People should be exposed to more whenever possible! ;)

So out this goes in K00kubura's 2015 Manga Bookbox!

this was pretty standard fluffy shounen fare, although i guess it was a bit too juvenile for other people's tastes. for what it is it wasn't that bad, although the artwork and story are all pretty cliche. not a keeper, but i found it to be fairly entertaining.

edit: apparently there are 10 volumes! i guess this series was more popular than i had thought, haha.

I'm claiming this from spacedog's Manga/Graphic Novel bookbox, despite the less-than-glowing comments {wry grin}.

Later: So, yeah, not the most riveting manga I've ever read - and not just because its cleavage-and-short-shorts fan-service isn't the kind that appeals to me! I did rather enjoy the bit late in this volume about skeletal enchanter Paracelsus - he's basically an animated skeleton, not just a really skinny guy, and it's definitely played for laughs. (Later on he adopts a hunky-human appearance, which *does* play to my fan-service requirements - though he's still a jerk and a horndog, so never mind!)

Mildly amusing in places, but not enough to make me want to seek out more volumes.
