Journal Entry 1 by LilyKlip from Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Saturday, August 28, 2010
This book is reserved for the Sandman-Spiral.

Book 2 in the series: We meet Dream's long lost love; go on a journey with Rose Walker, meet Fiddler's Green, Barbie and Ken (Oh, yes! ;), the twins Chantal and Zelda who own the biggest collection of suffed spiders and Martin Tenbones. And then there is the convention of serial killers who are nothing in comparison with one of Dream's little dreams gone wild.

Small advise: try and keep track of the characters a bit. Some of them become more important in the series than it may seem at this point
______________________________________________________________________________

The rules for the spiral stay the same:

- I will send the first book out to the first participant who will then pass it on to Nr. 2 and so on.
- As soon as the first book is released by the 5th participant I will send out the 2nd book.
- As soon as the first book is back with me I will send out book 3 and so on...
So the faster you pass them on the sooner you will get the next one.
- Before I send out the next book in the series I might contact all participants whether they are still interested in the next round.

- Please keep the books for a maximum of three weeks. They are all graphic novels and don't take that long to read. If you are too busy once it is your turn please PM me and I will move you further to the end. I cannot do this too often though as that would mess up the spiral system.

- It kind of goes without saying but please please handle the books with great care. Thank you!

- As this will be a long term commitment if you want to read all 11 books please consider carefully before signing up. If you change your mind along the way please let me know.

- I'm afraid I will have to cancel the spiral though if one book gets lost. I can afford to replace one book but don't want to pay for more.

Arrived safely. I'm looking forward to reading this.

Xirxe, I especially like the cartoon with the chicken. :)

Journal Entry 6 by wingSerendipityNwing at Wuppertal, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Monday, December 20, 2010
I enjoyed this volume of the Sandman even more than the first one. I liked the way it was more like one long story than it was the case in Preludes & Nocturnes.

The story about Morpheus and his friend, "Men of Good Fortune", was nice as well.

The Cereal Convention - very weird and pretty scary!

LilyKlip and I agreed that I'll keep the book until after the holidays, hoping that its journey to Tsjara will be safer without all the Christmas cards and packages travelling as well.

Thank you very much for this ring, LilyKlip!

Merry Christmas to you all!

Arrived here safely, in a nice envelope with some cartoons on it by Gary Larson.. (The one with the chicken in the dog suit is very funny :p). Thanks for sending and the postcard SerendipityN! Look forward to see how this continues from the first volume..

Journal Entry 9 by Tsjara at Assendelft, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Monday, January 31, 2011
I just finished reading it this evening, and I really enjoyed it. It feels as if Neil Gaiman finally got settled into his style here, compared to the first volume (where I only felt that in the last story). I really liked part 4 "Men of Good Fortune", and to see how their dressing style changed over the centuries. And also the story about Rose Walker, and how it all came together in the end (Fiddler's Green was great ^_^). The part about the collectors was rather creepy (funny that that guy was wearing a t-shirt with a wolf on it.. maybe it was a hint? Little Red Riding Hood :p).

Will send this to KiwiinEngland sometime this week (together with another book that I have here waiting).

Safely arrived in Ireland. I'll get onto it ASAP. Thanks for sending it out LilyKlip and to Tsjara for sending it to me.

I'm pleased I read the foreword, which gave the story line of book 1. I must say I hadn't thought the story in book 1 flowed as outlined in the foreword, perhaps because I'm fairly new to comics or perhaps becuase it just wasn't clearly created.

Anyway, book 2 was definately a step up and I greatly enjoyed it...some nice atmospheric storylines.

As an aside I'm surprised that so much of the focus in the credits/introduction is on Neil Gaiman.

Posting on to Vekiki, all wrapped up snuggly in a plastic zip lock bag to keep it clean and in a padded envelope to keep it safe from bumps and bruises.

(why, yes, I do like gary larson!)
this little parcel really cheered me up arriving today, thankyou

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Popped in the post for the next recipient (though sadly not in the gary larson envelope, as i can't find it so it must be in my locker at work)

I enjoyed the art work in this book more - but less so the story - contrary to comments above, I found it less coheisisve than book 1. Still fun, but i thought it felt much more like short stories, and the one over-arching plot got sidetracked a lot

The book has arrived :)

Journal Entry 17 by MKtiny at Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire United Kingdom on Monday, March 14, 2011
I agree with the general concensus here; I enjoyed it more than the first one and Gaiman really gets into his stride. The story about the Cereal Convention was great - really dark, but my favourite was the Men of Good Fortune. I've been studying Marlowe's 'Dr. Faustus' recently, so this story struck a chord; Marlowe and Shakespeare even turn up in the tavern at one point.

The book will be on it's way soon to Nell-Lu.

Have been unable to contact Nell-Lu, so the book is on it's way to Lunacia

Journal Entry 19 by winglunaciawing at Hammerfest, Finnmark fylke Norway on Saturday, April 9, 2011
The book is with me! I'm sorry it has taken long, but I had a strong reaction to the perfume smell of the book when it arrived, so I had to put it away. It now smells less, but still strong enough so I can't hold it for more than a couple of minutes. I'm really sorry, but due to my allergies, I just cannot read it until the smell is gone.

I must beg you please, please to keep them away for any sort of perfume smell before they head my way, as perfume is one of the things that makes me really ill. :-(

Will read it as soon as the smell is completely gone.

As always, a brilliant comic book by the genius Neil Gaiman. I simply love the Sandman.

I have PMed Appelsiini for her address. I thought I had it, but seems like I'd managed to delete it. Will send the book off as soon as I get paid (I'm broke at the moment).

This arrived yesterday, thank you Appelsiini (for the postcard and bookplate as well as for sending the book), and thanks LilyKlip for starting the ring.

I read it yesterday lunchtime and loved it. It feels like the series started properly here. The characters and stories were a lot more engaging than the Preludes and the world(s) began to feel detailed enough to believe.

I've PMed vedranaster so will send this on when I get an address.

Thanks Nell-Lu (& everyone before) for reading and sending on, and thanks LilyKlip for organizing this spiral.

Nell-Lu, I love the Rabbie bookmark! Thank you!
It brought back fond memories of my visit to his birthplace. :)

Journal Entry 28 by vedranaster at Zagreb: Donji grad (city centre), Zagreb City Croatia on Friday, July 8, 2011

I like the second volume, but slightly less than the first one.
I am not completely sure why exactly.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm simply not as good at reading comics (i.e. graphic novels) as I used to be. I would have loved to read this whole series as a real novel. Granted, it would be a very weird novel, but I would expect nothing less from Gaiman.
In comic form the story just seems too fragmented to me, and just as I start figuring out who/what fits where a chapter ends and the new one takes me somewhere completely different. So, just as Sandman says at one point, I don't understand all of this and I'm not sure what's going on. ;)

I got a giggle out of this one though, when I saw that the wreck Rose had rented for the drive to see her brother was a Yugo. We used to own a Yugo. *grin*

I am looking forward to the rest of the series, to see if things will start falling into place and making more sense. Though, this being a Sandman graphic novel, about dreaming and weird stuff, it most likely won't, as it befits a dream.
