Bought this book forgetting I had purchased this omnibus containing all three stories (isn't the sfbc version of the cover the greatest?).

Since several people have expressed interest in this book I'm going to set up as a bookring.

What is a bookring and how do I get in on it? (thanks go to PHC for her detailed instructions which helped me greatly in understanding the process)

A bookring begins when a bookcrosser decides to send a book on a controlled journey. A list of interested readers is set up and the book passes from one reader who reads it and then sends it along to the person next in line. Eventually the book ends up back in the hands of the original owner which, for this book, will be me, LaurieS. A reader can join a bookring at any time unless I decide to close it (if that happens I will make a note that the ring has closed). Just private message (PM) me and let me know where you are located (city, state & country) and if you are able to ship internationally. Also let me know if you would like to be placed lower down on the list.

What should I do when I receive the book? Log on to bookcrossing and type up a journal entry so I know it reached you okay. Then private message (PM) the next person in line to get their mailing address so there will be no waiting once you finish the book, if they do not respond within 10 days PM the next reader in line (and me too so I know they are no longer interested). Please read the book within 30 days and when complete add another journal entry with your thoughts about the book. Tell me the truth! Was it the best thing you ever read or a complete and utter waste of time? I love to talk books, the good, the bad and even the ugly (ugly can sometimes be lots of fun to dissect), you can write one sentence or a hundred. When you finish send the book along to the next reader in line. Please mail the book via Media Mail to save on postage in the US or via the slow boat to China if sending overseas.

What if I’m the last in line? PM me and I will send you my mailing address.

Help! I’m too swamped with book commitments and it is almost my turn! If you find yourself in this situation PM me and I will bump you down a few notches on the list (if possible). Believe me, I understand!

Thanks for participating and for reading this tome if you have made it this far.

Please PM me if would like to be added to the list or have any questions about the book or the bookring!

The List:

I've read both of Charlaine Harris' previous books and I enjoyed them tremendously. I'll get to this one as soon as I'm finished with the American Gods bookring I'm on. Can't wait to see what Sookie's up to now!

Journal Entry 11 by Soraidh from St. Louis, Missouri USA on Tuesday, December 9, 2003
Definitely a fun read! I'm happy to have been able to read this book. I enjoyed it just as much as the other books with Sookie in them. In some ways Sookie reminds me a little bit of Anita Blake, Laurell K. Hamilton's vampire hunter. While Sookie isn't hunting the vampires like Anita sometimes is, Sookie does seem to have her problems with men, hmm/ I liked the addition of Alcide to the case of characters and I'm really hoping we get to see more of him in the coming books.

Anyone know when the next one comes out? I'm not sure I want to wait for these books either! Thanks for sharing LaurieS (and all the rest before me)!

Got the book today, thanks!

I've only read the 1st book in this series, so Im going to run out and get the 2nd one, read it quickly, and then sink my teeth into this one (har har).

A fun (and short!) book. I read the second book and this one in the past few days and enjoyed them both. I hope in the next book (coming out in May) we see more of Eric and less of Bill- Bill seems to just sit around, get himself into trouble, and act horny and posessive. At least Eric buys Sookie things, bails her out of trouble, and is always there for her. Alcide is also great, although this is starting to turn into the Anita Blake series with so many hot men all after the main character. I like Anita Blake, but I think the Dead books are already pretty close in storyline to them, and only getting closer. I'd like to see Ms Harris do something different.

Released on Friday, March 19, 2004 at Private release via US Mail in Los Angeles, California USA.

This book was sent to Maurean today via Priority Mail. I hope she enjoys it!

Geez Louise! I haven't received any rings/rays for weeks now, and today in my mail I received five (When it rains, it pours!) And, of course, I am in the middle of two books currently, but I will put these in some semblence of order, try to get to them all in short order (you can see my progress on my bookshelf), and will journal here again when I have finished.

I just love this series! Harris' mix of mystery, horror, and comedy really appeals to me, and this installment didn't disappoint! I, too, was pleased with the addition of Alcide, and I hope we see more of him in the future. Fun, light read and I thank you, LaurieS, for including me in this ring!

Now, the plan is to put this in tommorrow's mail, off to az628, so that others may enjoy this, as well! *mailed 4/5

Journal Entry 17 by az628 from Irwin, Pennsylvania USA on Friday, April 9, 2004
I just received this book as my first bookring. I will put it next on my TBR pile.

Journal Entry 18 by az628 from Irwin, Pennsylvania USA on Monday, April 12, 2004
I finished this book up this weekend. I realized it is the third in the series. I had only read the first so now I have to find the second and anticipate the 4th coming out in May 2004.

I think this series is a bit similar to the Anita Blake series, but less graphic with a touch more humor. I like Sookie's development from the first book. I am probably missing out a lot from the second story. Hopefully Sookie will get more backbone and the men in her life will stop going back with their ex's......

I will be sending this book on to the next person. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

My mom had mentioned wanting to read this, so I joined this bookring in order to let her read it. She absolutely enjoyed it. Totally different from the type of book she normally reads. Thank you for sharing.

Mailing to LaurieS tomorrow, July 26.
