Ôoku: The Inner Chambers 04
7 journalers for this copy...
Despite Iemitsu and Arikoto's best efforts, there is no male heir to take over the shogunate. As the Redface Pox continues to ravage the country, it becomes increasingly clear within Edo Castle that Japan's continued existence relies on overturning the centuries of custom that define it!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
off into the wild . . .
I got a message from Lils74 that she will sent of Ooku 3 to me when she got my adress (wich I have pm-ed), so I keep the book a bit longer to read first part 3, then 4, and then sent of part 4 to Lils74 again. :)
This was more an in between book, with the first part the conclusion of the story of book 3 and with a small section on the next liege, th beginning of new characters that will devellop in part 5.
I like that all the female shoguns have their own character, that develops the story.
I will contact Lils74.

(Minor spoilers included:)
Started in December 2010, finished today, Jan 3rd; the first part didn’t grip me, but in the end it was interesting—I still get characters mixed up, and I did wish they’d have gone in more details into the daughter’s reign, instead of it just ending rather abrubtly, it seemed, and Arikoto retiring. He has really been the most interesting character, to me. The current Shogun’s reign in setting up to be interesting, with the new dude becoming top Chamberlain. By the end I had really gotten into it and was wanting to read more--I'll be looking forward to 5!
I'm pming Esme-Weatherwax now to confirm her address. Thanks again for these cool book rings, Laevina!

Hi there; I forgot to add a journal entry to say that I put this in the mail last week--so sorry that I did not make release notes for it then--I'm getting ready to take a trip and am a little scatterbrained! But it's on its way to Ireland!
Got the book today. It took awhile but then again it is coming a long way. I look forward to reading this next vol of the series ( which I am fully enjoying). I look forward to reading the up coming ones as well.
This is a in between book which finishes the story of vol 2 and 3 and than starts another story. I must say that this vol did not grip me as much as the other vols. However I am interested to see what happens with the new shogun and Chamberlain.
Note: I Pmed Elddau1 for her address as soon as I have it I will ship it off to her.

I finally found it, sorry the book got misplaced during the emergency move. Now it is off to the next person. I am so sorry for the long delay.
The next wonderful instalment of this series has arrived! I'm so relieved.
Though sadly a little worse for wear - the paper envelope was split (gosh, lucky it didn;t fall out) and the book was wet. I've dried it out but it is mis-shaped now. :-(
I'm really looking forward to continuing reading the story, as well as the other Canberra BCers will be.

I really enjoyed reading this. Devoured it in one sitting!
It was really great to be immersed in the reverse-Shogun world again. This one tells the stories of a couple of shoguns, I had to focus to keep it straight in my head. BUt loved it.
Thanks again laevina.
WARNING: this is rated 18+ (see last page of book)

Received from Elddau1 at our August meet up in Manuka.
How is it that Akimoto can simply retire when the next generation want him as a bed partner? That puzzled me. He started out as a monk, was kidnapped into the Inner Chambers where became influential for his good looks, great dress sense and wisdom, and then can decide not stay on for the next generation? How does that work?
Another entertaining installment of the Ooku series where red pox virus has reduced men to one in four of the population. Women take on the decision making roles, at first covertly and then openly.
Lovely drawings and some real history in this reverse historical fiction from Japan.

Received in my letter box last weeks. Thanks D-face.
I enjoyed reading another book in this series.
I still get a bit confused with the characters too, but enjoy the style and the illustrations.
I'm not sure who is next on the list, so I'm taking it to our meet-up today at Floriade.
