I will start reading this book later on today when I sit down with a pot of tea, (just for me)!

Amazon Editorial Review
"Offbeat, utterly endearing . . ." Booklist.

A Hamish Macbeth Mystery.

When Paul and Trixie Thomas move to the village of Lochdubh, Trixie jumps into things with a vengeance. She organizes an anti-smoking league, promotes vegetarian cooking, even starts a birdwatching society. It's too much . . . too perfect. It doesn't feel like the old Lochdubh anymore. So when Trixie is murdered, not everyone is exactly devastated.

Constable Macbeth, head over heels in love with beautiful Priscilla Halburton-Smythe, must interrupt his romance at the most inopportune time to solve the mystery. But how to do that when the list of suspects includes the entire town?

I was sorry when I came to the end of this book as I was enjoying it so much.
Imagine living in a little village in Scotland where roses tumble over garden fences, sweet peas flutter in the faintest of breezes. Bell Heather on the mountains that blossoms in June in deepest pink. Where there is no crime, no battered wives, and not a single drunk to lock up for the night. Some people thought the police station should be closed down! I almost wanted to live there until the mention of midges came up. I don't think I could live with those midges. It is bad enough in The Netherlands with mosquitoes at night! Anyway, this sleepy little village suddenly had a murder to contend with. Who did it? Whoever would have thought the village policeman, Hamish Macbeth, could have solved this crime!.....But he did!! I loved it. It was a slow story, but that was ok by me. The text is small in this book, (or rather my eyesight is not so good), so I was happy to read it slowly. I have given this book an 8 star rating.

Now I have to start looking for the other "Death of a ....." stories!

Thank you, Chamonix44 for surprising me with this unexpected book! :))

I was introduced to Beaton by you, not directly, but indirectly, reading your wishlist, I found this Beaton Lady must be so GOOD,otherwise you do not list all her books, considering we show a kind of similarities in our taste in reading, I started to look for the #1 book. Within a short time I was succeeded... and I hooked on... :-P After I found out how many books is written by Beaton, I wanted all of them, a great aim I think :))
