Taken from the back cover:
""I'm a simple village girl who has always obeyed the orders of my father and brothers. Since forever, i have learned to say yes to everything. Today i have decided to say no."
Nujood Ali's childhood came to an abrupt end in 2008 when her father arranged for her to be married to a man three times her age. With harrowing directness, Nujood tells of abuse at her husband's hands and of her daring escape. With the help of local advocates and the press, Nujood obtained her freedom - an extraordinary achievement in Yemen, where almost half of all girls are married under the legal age. Nujood's courageous defiance of both Yemeni customs and her own family has inspired other young girls in the Middle East to challenge their marriages. Hers is an unforgettable story of tragedy, triumph, and courage."

This was a wonderfully written book. I think the author did a wonderful job portraying Nujood's story with dignity, respect and from the eyes of the child living through this ordeal. I do not want to be a spoiler to the story but must state that I love how everyone wrapped themselves around Nujood after her courageous step into that courthouse!
I want to thank Nujood for sharing her story with the world. I know that you are touching many lives and inspiring many to take that brave first step.
Thank you pepita-do-Corfu for sharing this with me.

Arrived in today's mail
Nujood Ali's childhood came to an abrupt end when she was forced to marry a man three times her age when she was 10 years old. With the horrible abuse she endured from her husband and her in-laws Nujood was determined she was going to find a way to get a divorce. Even though all hope may have seemed lost, Nujood was determined to take her life back. I applaud the brave little girl Nujood was and the driven young-woman she is bound to become.

Arrived in the mail today. Thanks Aberpeter!
Nujood was very brave and determined as she took contol of her own life. It was amazing to me that she was only 10 years-old. She was wise and strong beyond her years to go against her family's honor and all that she knew to be morally wrong. With her strength and determination, I hope Nujood will be an advocate for women's rights in her country.
