8 out of 10

Almost a year later and I finally get round to reading this one. I really enjoyed C is for Corpse. It was much better than A and B. Good character development and a tight murder mystery (I didn't manage to figure it out this time until the end).

Kinsey has managed to almost get herself killed at the end of each book. I wonder if that will be a continuing trend through the series. Being almost killed 26 times may get a little bit tired.

I especially liked this line:
"I had a glass of white wine that made my lips pull together like a drawstring purse."

This book is off on the great Grafton Alphabet bookray. To Bookfrog next.

8 out of 10

FushMush said she liked this better than A and B, while I think A is still my favourite of the 3... though this one I had an idea who the "villain" was but hadn't really fixed on it or had a firm reason why or how or what. So maybe it is a better one?

I did enjoy it... now to work out whom is next?

This is my third Kinsey Millhone mystery, having read P and M before. I'd have to say that this is my favourite so far. Really enjoyed the story, as well as the little sub-story with Kinsey's neighbour. This will be on to guinevere69 next.

Ah, a good whodunnit! Although it wasn't really a whodunnit for a while, as it took a bit of time for the corpse to actually appear.

I did guess where the evidence was hidden before Kinsey, but had no idea who the baddie was (I must have sleep read that section).

And I did love Lila Sams. Especially when Kinsey steps on her foot and gives it a good hard grind. I never want to cross Kinsey, I don't think I could stand the pain.

Like the others I've read in this series, a damned good read, and hard to put down!

According to this list, this goes to puppymummy next. I'll see if she's still interested and pass it along asap.

UPDATE 1-DEC-2005: Popped in the mail to puppymummy yesterday. Sorry for the delay!

Definitely one of my favourites in the series - found it impossible to put down, I really needed to be going to sleep but I would finish a chapter and simply go straight to the next without even considering a break. I'm a little sad about Kinsey's neighbour's situation in this book, particularly as he is such a great guy. This one also made me realise just how small Kinsey's apartment is, I don't think that had quite clicked for me in the other books I'd read.
On to luckaye in the morning.

A HUGE "Thank You" for the Random RABCK - I did not expect so many books. And a huge THANK YOU to charbono for organising the RABCK.

I think I have only read one Sue Grafton book a few years back - and I can't even remember which one!?! On my TBR list for now :) Thank you.

Enjoyable if formulaic. I'm over Kinsey now and am offering the series -- as much as I have of it -- which I'd been collecting, to BCers who want them.

(Besides this book has travelled so far, it deserves to go further.)

A RABCK from Livrecache! Thanks you so much!

I received a 3kg bag full of Sue Grafton's Alphabet series, and they came at a VERY good time... I am enjoying/enduring a pregnancy with 2 toddlers in tow, and find I am lacking so much energy and don't even have the inclination to be on the computer. Found out this week that we're expecting twins, so that (a) explains a lot and (b) gives me a great reason to camp up every day with a book! Come August, I guess I won't have time to read at all!

I hadn't read any of the Kinsey Millhone books, but have enjoyed them from the first now! "A is for Alibi" is already visiting a friend - so I haven't registered that one yet - and I reckon all the others will meet the same fate.

I have had the benefit of reading the 8 I have in chronological order - speaking of which, it's funny how Kinsey remains 32 for the first 3 books (if my memory serves)... she had a busy year! It's also amusing to notice the lack of "techno toys" - no mobile phone, which let's face it, would have seen her out of a lot of sticky situations; and no computers etc.

I enjoyed A and B quite well, and would have given them a 7/10 had I not read the successive books - so I guess they're a 6.5! C was even better, but I reckoned the real character development occurred somewhere between C and F (I haven't read D or E). The books aren't taxing, they are simply nice easy reads - and sometimes I got to the conclusion before Grafton, other times I didn't.

Thanks so much for the VERY enjoyable books!

Received with many thanks as part of a double bookbag RABCK from the wonderfully generous ScarletRubies :)

Not sure if this will join my current collection of Sue Grafton's to be read and then possibly released as a book spiral as I have a paperback edition buried in the spare room somewhere. It may continue on it's journey a little sooner. Thanks to all who have shared it so far.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Taking this for release at a Bris meet-up. If not taken it will be wild released there or nearby.

This was one of a bag of Sue Grafton's I've been generously sent (thank you! and sorry they're stuck on my shelf atm), but it is also the only hardcover and a double-up on a paperback copy I've also collected along the way, so is going up for release.

This is a great series to read (even if a little dated technology-wise) and I welcome any finder to contact me if they'd like to read more, as I plan to share them as I read :)
