It bothered me that the author took liberties with the story of Ruth and added a more "modern" take to the story. I didn't enjoy it. I will probably release the book for what's in a name in December.

Thank you so much for this Holiday Gift! I was so excited when I opened it on Christmas Morning. Going on Mount TBR, but since it was in the house before the 1st of the year, I am definitely going to use it towards my "Reduce Mount TBR Challenge" for 2012!

Very interesting concept for a novel, my favorite kind of book - the "What if?" premise that takes off and takes you with it. Eager to read it, and thank you again! As for the author taking liberties, well, I sort of enjoy that. It's necessary, though, to constantly be aware that this is FICTION, and not to start accepting as "fact" what we read in the novels.

April 17, 2014: Short List (Sort of!)

June 29, 2014: It's reserved to add into Iwillrejoice's Alphabet Book Rings: Books That Begin with the Letter "G" (US version) when it gets to me!!

October 11, 2014: I see what you mean by 'taking liberties.' I still enjoyed the story, though. It does have a strong feminist bent to it, reminiscent of The Red Tent. It seems like everyone has an agenda lately.

March 25, 2015: Added into Iwillrejoice's ABC (Alphabet) Bookrings - US version - Books Beginning with the Letter G and will be sent out as soon as I receive the next participant's address.

This is one of those books that I got through, but only enjoyed somewhat and kind of wonder why I even read the whole thing. I must say that it did prompt me to read the Book of Ruth before I started this so I would be more familar with it, so that was a good thing.
