A Cotswold Killing (Cotswolds Mystery 1)
13 journalers for this copy...
bought from a bookshop in Canterbury
from the Cover:
Duntisbourne Abbots ia a quintessentially English village nestled in the stunning Cotswold hills. Recently widowed Thea Osbourne fears three weeks of house-sitting there may prove a little dull, but her first night's sleep at Brook View is broken by a piercing scream. She assures herself it was only a fox and nothing more sinister, but then a body turns up...
As a woman with no experience of detective work, Thea knows she shouldn't get involved, but in questioning neighbours she uncovers more tragedy and intrigue then she thought possible.

Thank you for sending this to me Into-the Blue.
I read this over the course of a weekend, its very easy to read and intriguing enough to make you want to find out what happens next. I'm not sure that I found Thea a particularly convincing sleuth, but the book didn't suffer for that.
I will send on the 3vie in the next couple of days

As a big fan of cosy village mysteries, I really enjoyed this. It was a nice easy read and I loved the build up to finding out the killer at the end. Luckily I already have the next 4 in the series on my tbr, so will be digging them out soon :0)

I agree with ZAS, it was very easy to read and intriguing enough to make you want to find out what happens next. Even altough there was a horrible murder it seemed very light and fluffy and more about village life. It had beautiful descriptions of the countryside which was great because it's an area I've never been to. Unfortunately I did guess what was going on close to the end which is very unusual for me but even knowing that, it didn't spoil the book.

Enjoyable read. I had the feeling I had already read this book, but once I got past chapter 5 the feeling passed, maybe it was just a similiar start to another book. I have added number 2 to my wishlist as I guess that will also be a nice easy read :)

Sending this book on to the next reader in the letter ABC RR.
I am not sure what to think of this book; I wasn't really convinced by the main characters to be honest and I found it difficult to stay interested. It took me a while to finish the book, maybe if I had read it in a few days it would have been better. I hope the next book in the RR won't be a detective though!

Before sending it to the next participant I should write a comment, shouldn't I!? ;o)
Well, it was a nice reading overall but in fact the history did not grab me completely: A women in her 40ies working as a house-sitter to change scenes after her husband dies in an accident a year ago... Right at the beginning of her stay in a small village occurs a murder, not the first one as she has to find out. She starts investigating but not all of the villagers are very helpful...

An utterly unmemorable book. I didn't exactly dislike it, but it didn't grab me, and it was a bit of a struggle to plough through to the end. The plot was unconvincing, the characters less so, but difficult to relate to, and OK, I admit it, I'm not a dog person.
The author obviously has a very defined sense of place, but, not knowing the Cotswolds, I was unable to plug into this, and it all rather passed me by. Perhaps if I knew the area I'd have enjoyed this more. As it was, it all felt very flat.
I did pick up the next one in the series to try to work out what I felt about this book, and discovered within a few pages that my prevailing emotion was boredom.

I have read this book but wasn't totally taken with it. It really didn't grab my attention and I found it extremely long winded in places. Good story with a nice ending but could have been written a lot shorter than it was.

I can't decide if I like or dislike the book. It was an easy enough read, but some things bothered me. It was a good book for some de-stressing. Not too demanding.
I am waiting for ababaigalit to send me her address, then the book will be off to a new adventure in Israel!
