I read this a week or so ago - I really enjoyed it. It was a gripping read and it also felt very modernly Australian. I really liked how Tsiolkas put together the chapters, each from the view point of a different character. The ABC has made The Slap into an 8 part series (http://www.abc.net.au/tv/theslap/) and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it is adapted for the small screen?
