One of my all-time favorite books. I just can't imagine growing up without the nightly reading from this book by my dad.

This was a fun read. Never read it as a child so I've now made up for lost time. Delightful book. Wonderful drawings. Beautiful color plates. Thanks to 16stepper for sharing!

I very much enjoyed reading The Wind in the Willows and only wish I would have come upon it when I was younger. For some reason, the concept of the animals having things like motor-cars bugged me since I could not see how a toad could fit behind the wheel of a car to drive. I could readily ignore that, however, since the book itself was so charming. I particularly loved the relationships between all of the friends and how much they cared for one another.

Recommended for children of all ages, especially the younger ones who would probably most enjoy the concept of a toad driving a car.

I just received this today (one of two bc books today, feeling v. popular). Is this the copy from when you were young? It looks very loved.
I am excited to read it. I loved the movie and I am sure this is better.

Yes! It is the copy I had when I was a kid. I got it as a birthday gift. My dad read it to me every night until we finished it. Then we had to read it again. And again. And again. Wow. I really miss the glory of childhood. Enjoy, sarajenni!

Sorry it took me so long. I would only read it at home with washed hands. I really enjoyed this book and I think if I had read it when I was a young child, I would have been crazy for it. It was really just a lot of fun. I'll PM now for her address QueenButterfly.

The Lost Book Island was saddened to find this book knocking on our door. A well loved book that has lost its way on a bookring path. 16stepper had hoped that this book would find its way home again to be loved and treasured for its sentimental value as well as its words and story.

It is hoped that the image of this book lounging on the beach, working on a nice tan, enjoying the sun and the surf will bring some measure of comfort to 16stepper as the wait goes on for a new journal entry. It is hoped that the new journal entry will come soon to help clear up the mysteries that surrond its disappearance from the land of journal entries and that it will soon return to its bookring journey so that many more can enjoy it.

I finally have a PM from QueenButterfly apologizing for keeping the book so long and promising to send it back to me. I will post a journal entry if that actually happens. I am hopeful right now, though.
