The Friday Night Knitting Club (Friday Night Knitting Club Novels)

Philosophical chick-lit, chick-lit that seems to want to empower women through telling us about Georgia Walker's success in making a life for herself making a living with entrepreneurial success, supporting her daughter by herself when the father of her daughter walked out of their lives. Georgia Walker pulls herself up with hard work and the friendship and support of another woman. Georgia is lucky in that she is very good at knitting and business, good enough to eventually open her own store and make it a success. This story takes up after she has accomplished that, when her daughter is 12 and the father walks unexpectedly back into their lives. Much of the story is taken up with the friendships and lives of the women who gather on Friday evenings for The Knitting Club, their relationships to Georgia and her daughter Dakota and their relationships with each other. The book seemed to me idealistic and unrealistic, but charming. I liked the knitting instructions and the muffin recipe included in the book.

This is not the type of book I usually read, but found myself enjoying it very much. Surprising that a first book by an author was so well done. I am in California and will pass this on to another reader in my town
