The Year of the Flood

An anniversary present from MrPloppy.
Sort of a sequel to Oryx and Crake, though not really, because the timeline of this book runs parallel to the other. Is there such a thing as a sidequel?
Whatever it is, I'm glad she wrote it. The world of Oryx and Crake was so richly imagined that it's wonderful to have another opportunity to explore it, from a very different angle. And of course, being Atwood, it's the usual fabulously cynical and dark vision of the future, yet always with that tiny spark of hope.
Great book. The trouble is, now I have to go and read Oryx and Crake again. And then I'll have to read this one again too...
