The Comfort of Saturdays (Isabel Dalhousie 5)

This is a place of mystery...a sanctuary. Every book, every volume you see here has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens.
Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Shadow of the Wind

Amazon Editorial Review:
Isabel Dalhousie is a new mother and a connoisseur of philosophy; she'd rather not be a sleuth. But when a chance conversation at a dinner party draws Isabel into the case of a doctor whose career has been ruined, she cannot ignore what may be a miscarriage of justice. Because for Isabel ethics are not theoretical at all, but an everyday matter of life and death. As she attempts to unravel the truth behind Dr Thompson's disgrace, Isabel's patient intelligence is also required to deal with challenges in her own life. There is her baby son Charlie; Cat's deli to look after, not to mention her vulnerable assistant Eddie; and a mysterious and unlikeable composer who has latched on to Jamie, making Isabel fear for the future of her new family. Isabel treads a difficult path between trust and gullibility, philanthropy and interference, while keeping in her sights the small but certain comforts of family, philosophy and a fine Saturday morning.

Thanks shelj7k.

I have learned to like this series a lot, although the first two parts were a disappointment for me after the Mme Ramotswe -series. The relationship between Jamie and Isabel is interesting, and this part brought new aspects to the poor Eddie. I was a little bit irritated of the fact how little time Isabel spends with her baby.
This book will travel to a new reader as a HGG suprise soon :)

Nice book, as all the Sunday Philosophy Club-books. I like the slow tone of these books, and I like the complicated relationships between people too, it is interesting to see how the things will go on.
Sending this forward as a HGG-gift, again! :)

I love these stories. So easy-going and not too much fuss. Makes me want to sit down infront of fireplace with a massive mug of tea and read it all at once. Looking forward for next book which is luckily already waiting for me.
