This was the first manga I ever brought, at the first London Expo I ever attented where I was dressed as Jesse, Team Rocket from pokemon :) I enjoy the Faeries' Landing Manga :)
This was the first manga I ever brought and it's been about 10 years since I last read it. Where has the time gone!?
It's still a cute but funny story. Ryang helps a human/deer escape from the cops and is rewarded with being shown where faerie's bathe at night. After being caught peeping, Ryang accidentally rips Fanta's magic dress which means she can't return to the Faerie land and Ryang becomes her master.
He's not too keen on her following him around, he's even less keen when she tells him that he must have 108 doomed relationships.
All the characters, even the bad ones are likable and this made me smile plenty of times. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

This book rode to the end of the relay game, and has landed in my TBR mountain. Thank you!
I enjoyed this comic more than I had anticipated! The back cover copy made it sound very harem-esqe, which I don't normally care for, but this volume really didn't involve any of that. I found the modern takes on mythology fun and creative, although I do think I was missing some subtleties since I don't know a lot about Korean myths.
The art was good, and has aged better than a lot of '90's comics! Some fashion choices and references seem dated, but as a whole it has held up. The art has a simple, strong style and competent, straight-forward layouts that makes it very easy to read.
I don't think I'll be seeking out the next volume, but this was a fun read.

Added to the Magical Beasties box
This book was in my Box Full of Magical, Mystical Stories and Dangerous Beasties bookbox. Thanks for sending it my way. My daughter introduced me to Anime. Looking forward to checking this one out.
Needed a short read in between books. An entertaining story and I enjoyed reading a manga. A teenaged human boy running into hot faerie babes. What could go wrong?? LOL! I have a couple ideas for a new journey for this book. Stay tuned.
I put this in HI77’s Bookbox of Intentional Variety bookbox. Happy Travels! Happy Reading!
This book is taking a book box ride to samid's house.
Fairies and anime.
Though the series is Tokyo Pop, this manga is set in Korea, and drawn by a Korean. It's fun to see the many layers of story happening: conversation and notes from the artist, as well as comments in an undertone (i.e. small print) from the characters. I hadn't realized that the different styles of drawing were used for the same characters, to keep the story zipping along, and to differentiate small drawings or even sketches from larger "set pieces." Don't feel much need to see how the story continues in volume 2, because it's so formulaic. But I know that there are some rabid manga fans out there.
