When You Are Engulfed in Flames

David Sedaris' newest instalment of observations on life - starting with why people cover movie chairs with jackets.
This was pretty funny, although I feel like Sedaris is reaching for some of the more truly bizarre characters that have crossed his path to fill up his books. I was particularly touched by the stories of Helen, the old lady who both tormented and affected Sedaris and his lover Hugh. I felt pity and was disturbed by the story of the old man in France who was lonely and ostracised after rumors of child molestation. In between those there is the usual assortment of family tales, strange medical equipment, and things you think can't possibly be true.
