8-year-old Jess is the daughter of an English man and a Nigerian woman. She has hard time fitting in at school and doesn't make a read friend until her visit to Nigeria. She soon realizes though that there is something very strange about her new friend.
Another book I read a while back and I did find it a bit difficult to get into. And scary too at places. But then, I am easily scared. :)

Another one going to a friend in uk...
Arrived in the post today - thank you! Very unexpected and a nice surprise. I am so spoiled this year. The title of this one is vaguely familiar. I haven't read it, but I must have heard of it somewhere before.
Hmmm. This was ok, but a little disappointing as from reading the back I was expecting a bit more Nigerian folklore than appeared in the book. It was an all right read, but I think really it is a young adult's book, and the writing was maybe a wee bit precocious at times. It was slow going as well at times.
Oh moan, moan moan. It is all right, although I wouldn't want to read it again. It was interesting to read about her childhood experiences of Nigeria - I know this is fiction, but I suspect a certain amount of this must be from personal experiences of the writer. And it was an interesting idea, about the imaginary friend - is she or isn't she? It's about Jess, a Nigerian/British girl who meets a strange little girl, TillyTilly on a visit to Nigeria. Jess has problems already - she seems to be neurotic and really seems to need more special care than she's getting considering all the screaming fits and hiding in cupboards, but anyway. TillyTilly turns up in Britain then, and things get a bit wierd.
